    Relationship between Parental Acceptance and Social Interaction of Children with ASD

    The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is a correlation between parental acceptance and the amount of social interaction autistic children have. It has been hypothesized that autistic children's levels of social interaction are proportional to the degree to which their parents accept them, and that this correlation is both positive and substantial. This study included 74 autistic parents and 37 autistic children ranging in age from 6 to 11. The autistic children's ages ranged from 6 to 11. In order to collect data for this study, the researchers observed autistic children interacting socially and utilized a scale to gauge the acceptance of autistic children by their parents.
